Everything you wanted to know about ms. lyons
I grew up in northern Illinois, half way between Milwaukee, WI and Chicago. I graduated from Antioch Community High School (go Sequoits!) and attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA, where I earned my bachelor of arts degree with a major in biology and minor in chemistry (fun facts: Coe College is the shortest named accredited college in the United States and is the alma mater of Seattle Seahawks running back Fred Jackson and Fox NFL Sunday host Curt Menefee). After college I spent a year in the Washington, D.C. area doing research at the National Institutes of Health. Then I moved on to the University of Wisconsin-Madison (go Badgers!), where I earned my doctorate in microbiology for research performed in Dr. Joe Dillard's lab. I moved to South Haven in June 2013 and started on the path to teacher certification in May 2014. I was an intern teacher at Bangor High School for the 2014-2015 year under Randy Ward and was fortunate enough to be hired to replace him when he moved to his new position as Dean of Academic Intervention and Support Services.
When I'm not in the classroom, I can be found reading, cross-stitching, or baking at home or singing with the Kalamazoo Bach Festival Chorus. I love chocolate, the color blue, naps, and puppies.
